College Access Matters

The Minnesota College Access Network (MCAN), an initiative of MMEP, convened Dr. Ernest Davenport, Catherine Wanjugi, and Dr. Avelino Mills-Novoa to complete a college access programs inventory. Their findings became the College Access Matters: The Opportunity for College Access Programs in Minnesota report.

This report provides valuable information for those seeking to make investments that enhance or expand Minnesota’s college access programs. Specifically, the report provides:

  • Results of a survey of existing college access programs in Minnesota, highlighting current practices and identifying gaps in college access services;
  • A College Access Opportunity Index that ranks geographic communities throughout Minnesota according to how much they would benefit from enhanced college access programming; and
  • Recommendations for investments to both strengthen existing programs and develop more college access programs, drawing in part on research about promising practices in college access.
